Responsibilities*

  • Maintain lab space and equipment.
  • Inspect and change CO2 tanks for cell culture incubators.
  • Maintain and expand cells in 2D and 3D cell culture.
  • Process, maintain, and bank patient tissue to generate patient-derived organoids for downstream experiments.
  • Perform in vitro drug screening experiments on cancer cell lines.
  • Test drug combinations.
  • Perform high-throughput screening.
  • Maintain drug libraries and inventories.
  • Isolate DNA, RNA, and protein from cells.
  • Perform quantitative and digital PCR.
  • Perform western blotting.
  • Train and supervise new trainees in the lab.
  • Present research findings in lab meetings.
  • Prepare and present posters at conferences.
  • Contribute to manuscript writing.
  • Review relevant scientific literature on a regular basis.
  • Possess knowledge using Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism software.
  • Plan, perform, and troubleshoot experiments independently.
  • Maintain a lab notebook and record of data.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree and 4-5 years of experience in a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted, including relevant undergraduate and graduate student experience

  • Master's degree

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
