The Research Health Coach will be delivering protocol driven health coaching interventions to study participants with the Behavior Engagement and Health Technology Assessment (BEHTA) lab.

This role be an integral member of the BEHTA lab, serving as a Research Health Coach, delivering protocol driven health coaching interventions to study participants (via face-to-face, telephone or videoconferencing technology as appropriate). The ideal candidate will practice strategic thinking, attention to detail, be dependable, enjoy working in a highly collaborative setting, and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver protocol driven health coaching interventions to study participants.
  • Schedule and coordinate sessions, attend and participate in supervision sessions, record sessions as directed, and perform research health coaching data collection during initial visit and follow-up sessions.
  • Organize and remind study participants of upcoming appointments.
  • Train study participants on key elements of study protocol.
  • Monitor study participant adherence to key elements of the study protocol.
  • Assist with research grant as appropriate with tasks to support PI in writing and presenting research reports and research protocols.
  • Perform duties needed including case management and decision-making and work collaboratively with other lab personnel to achieve goals of research studies.
  • Serve as liaison to various team members to ensure smooth running of research projects. Track and monitor adverse patient outcomes.
  • Provide health coaching to community sites, establish and nurture community partnerships, work with designated community sites to advance research, education, and training mission of the center.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or requested
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare (Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field)
Minimum 6 months of coaching experience (experience may be substituted on equivalent basis)
Knowledge of biology, clinical judgement, documentation, records management, and cultural awareness.
Ability to build trust, collaboration, decision-making skills, communication, critical thinking, and influencing skills.
Customer focus, Interpersonal, empathy, listening, and patience.
Proficient in MS office, know how to record, open a web browser, and install and use web meeting interface
Coaches must be proficient in the use of documentation to complete and upload coaching logs
Must have the ability to travel within the Milwaukee metropolitan area

Willing to receive training and successful completion of Brief Action Planning training.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Master’s degree in healthcare (Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field)
2 year’s experience with health coaching preferred
