What You'll Do

As our Research Assistant you'll serve as the on-the-ground point person for the Aescape product research lab, embedded within the member-facing Aescape flagship location in NYC. You'll oversee the research operations elements of the lab while serving in a user-facing role that helps project and cultivate the Aescape brand. Over time and with mentorship and guidance you'll grow into a fully fledged product research practitioner.

This is an entry-level position in an early stage healthtech start-up, is ideal for people just starting out in their research careers, and assumes little to no previous research experience in a professional setting.

• Run the day to day operations of the Aescape research lab in a fully onsite (5 days/week) capacity at our flagship in New York City (near Union Square)
• Manage scheduling, check-in, set-up and post-massage survey administration for test users coming in to the lab
• Use impromptu interviews to source additional, qualitative user feedback
• Proactively identify opportunity to optimize the research lab/flagship location
• Identify and flag user painpoints, product breakages and other areas for improvement that may arise
• Convey and project the brand image of Aescape, as a premium, tech-enabled massage experience
• Over time, with mentorship and training, grow into a product/user research practitioner

What you'll bring

• An eagerness to learn and grow at an early point in your research career
• Innate people skills: the vision for the flagship/research lab is that eventually numerous people will check-in per day (though additional support will come in when we're fully at scale)
• Coursework or professional experience in a research related field, either quantitative or qualitative, is ideal
• Nimbleness, flexibility and efficiency - you'll receive clear guidance, but also be empowered to make decisions in the moment
• Natural detail-orientation and organizational skills
• A desire to work in a early-stage start-up environment where things move quickly and ambiguity may be high
• A passion for wellness, wellness technology, the practice of massage and/or the overall spa and recovery category
