As a Renewal Specialist, the work that you perform will help improve patient safety and foster access to health care in Washington. You will promote and assist with the renewal of health licensing in a public health program closely linked to the Department’s mission.

This position will perform healthcare credential renewal activities within a work group, including conducting careful evaluation of a healthcare provider’s ability to qualify for the renewal of their credential. This position is also responsible for promoting online services, including ensuring that healthcare providers renewing their credentials online are qualified to do so.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
:
  • Promote and assist with evaluation and compliance with public health programs and licensing standards.
  • Review, evaluate, and assess incoming license renewals for completeness, accuracy, signatures, and adherence to established departmental policy, laws and regulations.
  • Issue renewed credentials to qualified credential holders by entering required information and processing workflows in the HSQA database (ILRS).
  • Prepare paper health profession and facility credential renewal notices and licenses.
  • Provide written and verbal correspondence and outreach to internal and external customers, providers, employers, and stakeholders related to renewal services and refund of payments.
  • Provide consultation and education for healthcare profession credential renewals for providers, internal and external customers.
  • Manage submission, tracking, maintenance and storage of renewal forms, documents, and other related materials.
  • Serve as backup for Call Center staff by answering phones during high volume call times.

The duty station for this position is in Tumwater, WA. Telework (mobile work) is currently expected. When approved, the incumbent is expected to report to the duty station for work activities. Partial telecommuting may be an option subject to supervisory approval. The incumbent is expected to report to the Tumwater duty station for work activities 1-2 days a week.

This is a full-time, permanent Health Services Consultant 1 position within the Division of Health Systems Quality Assurance, Office of Customer Service.

The Division of Health Systems Quality Assurance (HSQA) is responsible for oversight of Washington State’s health care delivery system which includes licensing and regulating more than 380,000 health care professionals and 7,000 facilities. Required Qualifications

  • Two (2) or more years of experience resolving customer inquiries, problems, or complaints.
  • One (1) or more years of experience preparing correspondence and answering telephones daily.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience using standard office software including:
    • Spreadsheet software such as MS Excel to create, modify, print, and format spreadsheets and work with basic formulas, data, and functions.
    • Word processing software such as MS Word to create, format, edit, preview, print, and save documents as well as using standard functions to select, edit, copy, paste, format, create tables, use spell check, and create bulleted and numbered lists.
    • Email software such as MS Outlook to compose and respond to correspondence electronically.
    • Entering, tracking, and monitoring information in a database.
    • Using the internet as a research tool to find and download information.

Desired Qualifications

  • An Associate’s degree or two (2) years of higher education (quarter/semester credit equivalency).
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in a call center environment.
  • One (1) or more years of experience reviewing documents and taking appropriate action based on an analysis of the information.
