OBJECTIVE SUMMARY
: Under the general supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the Manager of Rehabilitation Services will plan, schedule, organize, direct and supervise all staff, services and operations of the Rehab Services Department including Occupational Therapy (OT), Therapeutic Recreation (TR), Physical Therapy (PT), and Speech Therapy (ST).


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage the professional work of the Rehab Services Department:

  • Assures that quality care is provided by all disciplines consistent with the mission of the hospital and state and national standards.
  • Champions organizational vision, mission and strategic plan.
  • Collaborates and works effectively in partnership between disciplines with other departments and professional staff.
  • Focuses on growth, development and management of outpatient therapy services to meet the needs of the community.
  • Trains, develops, and promotes personal and professional growth and development for staff.
  • Coordinates with Utilization Review staff to determine appropriate intermediary coverage for rehab services.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to achieve the appropriate length of stay and discharge plan for inpatients.
  • Manages the financial responsibilities of the department including budget, purchasing, staffing, and appropriate and timely billing documentation.
  • Develops policy, procedures and best practices with input from staff and within hospital guidelines.
  • Drives program activities to achieve goals that increase patient throughput in outpatient rehab services.
  • Maintains recruiting links with professional community to enhance recruitment of specialties.
  • Maintains department standards consistent with state regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Markets services to physicians and community organizations
  • Develops, implements, and markets new programs and services for the Rehab department.
  • Participates in community outreach programs to increase hospital and rehab dept referrals and maintain community relations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelors of Science degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech Therapy or above.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech Therapy or above

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum five years of professional work experience managing both inpatient and outpatient services.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum five years in a hospital setting

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: Licensure in Washington State


SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand spoken English words and sentences.
  • Ability to communicate with others by telephone and email.
  • Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little direct supervision in planning and organizing his/her work.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate patients.
  • Ability to lead and supervise staff in all rehab disciplines.
  • Ability to objectively appraise and analyze the qualifications and performance of others as well as the ability to plan and direct their activities.
  • Ability to judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances, or problems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Hospital inpatient and outpatient therapy environments.

Eligibility Requirements - Employees regularly scheduled at least 20 hours per week.

Employee Dependents - Your legal spouse or domestic partner, Dependent children until age 26.
