Actual pay rate will be calculated based on relevant years of experience and education/certification requirements.


ROLE SUMMARY

The RN completes individualized patient assessments; develops a care plan based on assessment/history findings; delivers patient-centered care that is culturally appropriate; evaluates a patient’s response to care and revises as needed. The RN is accountable to deliver care as well as to oversee and delegate to other personnel (clinical & non-clinical) in delivering/supporting the delivery of care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collects and analyzes pertinent objective and subjective data related to the health status of the patient/client, including biological, psychological, social, emotional, spiritual, and age-specific determinates of health.
    • Plans, implements, and documents plan of care involving family, demonstrating respect for patient rights. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality; is compliant with HIPAA.
    • Advocates for patient/family.
    • Honors, respects patient/family cultural beliefs and incorporates into plan of care.
    • Communicates plan of care to members of the healthcare team.
    • Delegates selected nursing functions to others in accordance with their education, credentials and demonstrated competence.
    • Evaluates and revises plan of care to address physician/clinical issues.
    • Identifies care concerns and communicates with appropriate individuals or departments to ensure resolution.
    • Knows responsibility/role during all Emergency Codes and Red Rules.
    • Maintains current clinical knowledge and volunteers to share/present information to staff.
    • Maintains competency on all computer systems/software utilized for completion of role responsibilities.
    • Initiates/participates in performance improvement activities.
    • Uses critical thinking skills in making decisions regarding patient care.
    • Demonstrates Memorial’s expectation for customer service.
    • Demonstrates inter/intradepartmental teamwork.
    • Demonstrates flexibility within the RN role.

RN, Labor & Delivery ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, include:

  • Manages all aspects/phases of labor and the immediate postpartum period including pain management, Pitocin drip/titration, magnesium sulfate drips, heparin drips and insulin drips.
  • Circulates OB surgery cases.
  • Functions in the PACU RN role for OB patients.
  • Functions proficiently in the OB triage role. Triages OB patients 20-40+ wks for: labor assessment, addresses medical conditions, assists with versions and amniocentesis, trauma, NST’s, CST’s, etc.
  • Stabilizes and monitors antepartum patients.
  • Provides the immediate care of newborn post-delivery.
  • Provides breastfeeding support to patients.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of advanced EFM course every two (2) years.

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Current NRP and/or ALSO certification required within one year of hire. American Heart Association BLS required until certified in ACLS. ACLS required within one year of hire.

Additional requirements: 24 hours of call required every four weeks with a 30-minute response time for Part- and Full-Time staff members.
