We are searching for a Registered Land Surveyor for our headquarters in Memphis, TN to support our Surveying Department.
Requiring precise, deliberate and detailed work, you will plan and evaluate proposed field survey projects, research property history, and compile information gathered in the field through data collection for a variety of clients.   • Daily coordination with field personnel, project managers and other staff
  • Prepare survey cost proposals that include scope of work and associated fees
  • Prepare survey data, drawings, plats, descriptions from information gathered in the field and office
  • Work closely and communicate well with project managers and clients
  • Manage equipment needs for maintenance, replacement or addition of new equipment as needed
  • Perform complex surveying calculations using various calculations, software and computing methodologies
  • Prepare finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, ALTA surveys, corner staking, etc.
  • Research existing record information, including maps, plans, deeds, easements, right of way documents, etc.
  • Continual advancement of technical knowledge with upgrades in technology and equipment

Qualification and Experience Requirements:

  • Ten (10) years’ demonstrable experience in the surveying field
  • Licensed Land Surveyor with the ability to become registered in Tennessee and neighboring states
  • Knowledge of preparing boundary surveys, processing field data, CADD, and writing legal descriptions
  • Appreciation for the importance of working within a safe manner, obeying all safety regulations
  • Ability to manage crews, assign work, prepare survey proposals and work with various project managers
  • Ability to utilize various softwares to provide accurate survey data, drawings, plats, and descriptions

Full-Time - Salary Commensurate with Experience

Physical Demands: this position requires work in both the office and in the field. It includes::

  • Physical effort, including standing for extended periods of time, stooping, bending, and crouching during a regular work shift of at least nine (9) hours per day
  • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance
  • Maintaining constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment
  • Frequently walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
  • Capability to become certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations up to 15 feet in depth, using ladders or crawling, as required
  • Ability to maintain balance while working on watercraft or other surfaces
  • Ability to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely

encounters when required to be in the field to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions
  • The work environment periodically exposes employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project
  • Employees work near heavy equipment and moving machinery
  • Employees work in close proximity to high volumes of fast-moving traffic
  • Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and ready-mixed concrete

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour
