The Practice Administrator works collaboratively with the Executive Director and other Practice Administrators and provides administrative oversight and business development for hospital owned or operated physician practices. The Practice Administrator is responsible for the leadership of each assigned practice. The responsibilities include direct supervision of Practice Managers. Assures that high quality clinical care and customer service are provided in all Practice locations. Provides efficient services as evidenced by revenue cycle effectiveness, budgetary adherence, and high customer satisfaction.

Central Region consists of Union, ( May include towns such as Clark, NJ) Middlesex and Monmouth County ( May include towns such as Tinton Falls, Eatontown)
Responsibilities:
A day in the life of a Practice Administrator at Hackensack Meridian includes:
  • Oversee revenue cycle functions at each practice. Review cost comparisons between office supply companies and coordinate purchase decisions with Executive Director. Assure that Practice Managers follow all privacy and HIPAA guidelines. Develop systems for assuring that patient due balances is collected at the time of patient appointments for each assigned Practice. Provide input and guidance to Practice Managers with respect to staffing, cost control and practice workflow.
  • Direct supervision of site managers to include the development of personnel through the use of internal and external orientation/training programs to ensure the delivery of optimal services. Assures that each site is staffed and scheduled in an effective and efficient manner. Assist with setup, training and implementation for all new practices during start-up phase. Lead on-site JFKMA presence for all hospital owned or operated physician practices. Directs the operations of all assigned practices. As needed, assist in recruiting and training of Practice personnel.
  • Meet with Executive Director and other Practice Administrators to discuss Practice issues on a regular basis. Routinely monitor the data processing of demographic and charge entry to assure accuracy and efficiency of the staff in each Practice. Monitor the safety of the environment and assure that all staff is properly trained in patient and personal safety. Monitor the proper maintenance of each assigned Practice.
  • Utilizes appropriate reporting procedures for incidents involving property damage, occupational illness, and injury to patients, staff or visitors. Takes appropriate actions to eliminate, minimize, or report safety risks and integrates safety precautions into their daily activities. Demonstrates knowledge of unit-specific responsibilities in a fire including evacuation routes, responsibility at point of origin, away from origin, functioning of fire alarm system and responsibility preparing building evacuation. Knowledge about reporting security incidents. Completed all mandatory annual in-services. Demonstrates knowledge of general safety processes, areas specific safety, and specific job-related hazards. Can describe services available through Occupational Health, EAP, and Worker's Compensation. Demonstrates understanding of appropriate process in reporting any incident of occupational illness/injury. Has completed mandatory annual health update.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area of study.
  • Minimum of five (5) or more years of physician practice management experience.
  • Computer skills
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
  • Master's Degree in Healthcare or Business Administration.
  • Experience with contracting and/or integration with a hospital/joint venture.
  • Prior management experience in hospital-based physician practice setting.
