Chevron is accepting online applications for the position R&D Laboratory Technician through 3/24/2023 at 11:59 p.m. (PST).
The position will be responsible for managing the day to day technical laboratory support of additive blending and performance/analytical testing. The position requires working frequently on non-routine tasks of broadly outlined assignments involving a wide range of chemistries and product line applications. The position is dynamic and requires a mix of laboratory and analytical skills depending on the project business need. Candidate must maintain a high degree of independence and responsibility, reliability and accountability in planning and reporting laboratory experiments. Candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with senior chemists/engineers in the Blending Expert Team to maximize productivity by applying technical skills and experience routinely and by drawing on knowledge and skills of other experienced personnel.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Working frequently on non-routine tasks of broadly outlined assignments involving a wide range of chemistries and applications.
  • Execute blend experiments and perform chemical analysis on these samples.
  • Perform analytical techniques such as FTIR, HTHS, foam performance, CCS, viscosity, color analysis, and NMR.
  • Assess and troubleshoot product compatibility and stability.
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
  • Document technical research in written reports and presentations.
  • Utilize a mix of laboratory and analytical skills to complete project goals.
  • Maintain a high degree of responsibility, reliability, and accountability in planning, execution and reporting laboratory experiments.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Apply technical skills and experience routinely, and draw on knowledge and skills of other research engineers/chemists.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related science discipline or chemistry-related major.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 years of hands-on synthetic or analytical laboratory experience and accuracy in generating and reporting data.
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills such as laboratory equipment knowledge and troubleshooting proficiency.
  • Ability to apply technical, laboratory and analytical skills to solving applied research problems.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills, including preparing technical reports and presentations of scientific data.
  • Demonstrated track record of high performance and multi-tasking behaviors.
  • Proven experience working within a team environment and draw on knowledge and skills of other research engineers/chemists.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated safety behaviors.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $63,000 – $ 128,000 The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
