Chemours’ largest global production facility at Washington, WV is currently seeking an Area Manager R&D Semi Works, a leadership role critical to developing and advancing the long-term site strategy.
Located about one hour north of Charleston, WV and two hours east of Columbus, OH, this unique Ohio River valley region is wonderful for both singles and families with its blend of urban and rural, historic and new. Provides leadership and direction for the Washington Works R&D Semi-Works area. Ensures continuous and efficient production in desired quantity and quality, and effectively manages daily maintenance work and shutdowns. Interfaces with Research Global Leadership for coordination of schedules and understanding of Researchers’ needs. Accountable for establishing and meeting fixed and variable cost objectives. Sets expectations for adherence to policies and procedures and safety standards. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of high hazard processes and multiple finishing and testing equipment and processes. Manages quality of workmanship, operational discipline, cost, manpower resourcing and schedules.
Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide input to the 3-5 year site strategic plan which supports the business and corporate strategy.
  • Develop and establish Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for the Area and Facilitate Visual Performance Management activities with area team including problem solving.
  • Communication and execution of business objectives, priorities and progress across the Area.
  • Develops, integrates and executes the Area’s supply strategy and supply plan through the efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Align with Site / Unit Strategic Plan, provides strategic leadership & direction for the area implementing initiatives that will move area to a world-class competitive position.
  • Interfaces with other site leaders, e.g. peer Area Managers and Unit Managers, etc. on key matters related to the Area.
  • Provides leadership for improvement programs and asset productivity best practices across the area with the use of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Set expectations and hold people accountable for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
  • Leads identification and prioritization of risk reduction opportunities, establishes clear priorities and supports effective resourcing to drive improvement in the Area.
  • Develop and execute plans to meet the annual cost and capital commitments/goals for the Area.
  • Reviews financial activity statements to identify improvement opportunities and to monitor progress in attaining cost objectives.
  • Develops and executes capital improvement plans in accordance with current conditions and business requirements.
  • Provides development, coaching and mentoring to key area’s leaders and employees' appropriate mindsets and behaviors.
  • Support and advance Organizational Health within the R&D Semi-Works area.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical field
  • 3 years of experience in high hazard manufacturing facilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, OneNote, SharePoint; ability to quickly learn new systems
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
  • Previous experience and certification in Six Sigma, Lean or other Continuous Improvement skill set
  • Previous leadership experiences in a manufacturing environment
