The Quality Program Manager manages all aspects of the supplier/winery relationship relating to quality and food safety of specified globally sourced and co-manufactured raw materials, wines, sprits, or finished products. Functions as the liaison for the supplier or co-manufacturer, ensuring consistent alignment of quality assurance and food safety objectives. Drives quality and food safety systems to secure supplier quality performance as specified in contract agreements, winery policies and brand protection expectations.

What You Will Do

  • Functions as the Quality Assurance organization’s primary contact for co-manufacturing quality/food safety issues; leads continuous improvement initiatives for specified Global Sourcing and Co-Manufacturing suppliers for the winery.
  • Leads internal/external audits and corrective actions with the supplier(s), generates gap plans, and presents out regularly to update senior leadership stakeholders on progress.
  • Serves as both consultant and vendor/customer relationship representative to drive contract terms, and proactively build programs as well as collaboratively resolve quality or food safety issue(s).
  • Serves as primary representative for Quality on Innovation to Market projects, specifying sanitary design, food safety and quality product and system requirements.
  • Facilitates and performs root-cause analysis for quality and food safety related issues at a supplier’s facilities.
  • Uses data to suggest types of capital purchases (if needed) to drive continuous improvement projects (product quality, food safety, sanitary design).
  • Presents research findings and recommendations to quality assurance senior leadership team, sourcing senior leadership teams, and supplier senior leadership teams.
  • Applies statistical techniques to determine if a supplier’s new/existing piece of equipment is capable of producing products or materials within specifications; applies statistical techniques to Retail Distribution Center sampling protocols to drive targeted sampling based on supplier risk.
  • Performs FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to calculate the Quality and Food Safety Risk Index for suppliers. Uses results to establish quality audit priorities and schedules, and reports quarterly on the supplier’s continuous improvement plans.
  • Creates and maintains supplier scorecards; reports out on quality scorecard, corrective actions and next steps at supplier Stakeholder meetings.
  • Develops action plans with Quality, Co-Manufacturing, Winemaking, and Supplier leadership teams to review corrective actions to confirm effectiveness.
  • Sets annual quality targets for suppliers and ensures improvement through targeted projects for high risk suppliers, poor performers, and reoccurring issues.
  • Designs validation and verification programs to assure brand protection and specification conformance.
  • Develops and participates in food safety and quality audit programs at the supplier facility or co-manufacturer sites related to GFSI and ISO 17025 certification conformance.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of quality assurance/quality control, production-operations process/program management, lean six sigma operations management, or engineering experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 9 years of quality assurance/quality control, production-operations process/program management, lean six sigma operations management, or engineering experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility.
  • Required to travel via airplane, automobile, or other modes of transport to execute job duties.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, Engineering plus 8 years of quality assurance/quality control experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility.
  • Extensive experience auditing food safety or quality systems.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience building relationships and influencing organizational functions such as Operations, Engineering, Supplier Development, and Supply Chain.
  • Skilled in the use of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint at an intermediate level; additionally, experienced in LiveLink, Minitab, Winemanager, and LIMS.
  • Extensive experience with Food and Beverage industry best practices, FDA regulations, and quality systems.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) CQE/CQA Certifications.

Compensation:

  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: $94,860 - $158,000
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
