Quality Assurance Manager

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the metal forming industry, is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join their dynamic team. The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all parts and assemblies meet the highest quality standards before shipping through inspection.

Responsibilities:

  • Measure and record the configuration of formed metal parts and assemblies using various instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Measure and record various physical and chemical properties of chemical processing, including plating thickness, adhesion, corrosion resistance, and surface hardness.
  • Measure and record the physical properties and hardness of incoming metals and customer products after heat treating, such as tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and impact resistance.
  • Establish and monitor key characteristics and critical dimensions of parts and assemblies to ensure consistency and accuracy throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Audit production records to verify compliance with quality standards, including process parameters, inspection results, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain customer schedules and communicate quality-related issues or concerns with customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop a team spirit for customer satisfaction by fostering collaboration and communication between quality, production, and customer service departments.
  • Understand and apply quality management systems, such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949, including documentation, training, internal auditing, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with established company policies and procedures, including safety regulations, environmental requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Manage internal and external audits by coordinating with auditors, preparing audit plans and reports, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the senior management team.

  • Strong technical communication skills to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards, and to provide clear instructions to operators, inspectors, and engineers.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, data sheets, and quality manuals.
  • Professionalism and attention to detail to maintain a high level of accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality in all quality-related activities.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Time management skills to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Math aptitude to perform basic calculations, such as percentages, ratios, and statistical analysis, and to use statistical process control (SPC) tools, such as control charts, histograms, and Pareto charts.
  • Project management skills to plan, execute, and evaluate quality improvement projects, such as process optimization, defect reduction, and customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Customer literacy to understand and anticipate customer needs, expectations, and preferences, and to provide timely and effective solutions to quality-related issues.
  • Telephone etiquette to handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Presentation skills to deliver quality-related training, reports, and presentations to internal and external audiences.

Desired Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as engineering, quality assurance, or manufacturing (preferred).
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or other relevant certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) (preferred).
  • Training in quality management systems, such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 (preferred).
  • Training in statistical process control (SPC), Six Sigma, or other quality improvement methodologies (preferred).

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
