Summary

Michael Baker is a national leader in technology solutions supporting clients in local, regional, state, and national government to solve complex problems with advanced technologies for the 21st century. This position would be directly supporting the firm’s nationwide broadband planning and implementation work performed within Michael Baker’s Consulting and Technology Solutions (CTS) team, which includes Geospatial Information Technology (GIT) and GIS; DATAMARK, the public safety GIS arm of Michael Baker; Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR); Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Pavement Technologies. The CTS team is comprised of nearly 200 technology experts focusing on technology differentiation and innovation to support Michael Baker’s growth initiatives.

Michael Baker’s broadband initiative offers a balanced mix of technical expertise along with project experience applying innovative technologies and processes to complex projects with government clients and in the private sector. Our broadband team has substantial experience in broadband planning, program management, mapping, and data verification on numerous statewide broadband projects. We also provide technical support and consulting services for broadband planning and program management to clients at various local, regional, statewide, and national levels. Our broadband team is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Project Manager for its fast-growing CTS team to play a critical role managing and executing broadband projects within its Project Management Office (PMO). Articulate, concise and consistent communication is essential for working with leadership and with project staff to outline workplans, assign duties, responsibilities, quality control and scope of authority, all the while ensuring project milestones and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed scope, schedule and budget parameters.

Michael Baker International is seeking a Public Engagement Specialist to manage and develop public involvement and stakeholder engagement activities on telecommunications projects in Pittsburgh and across the country. Diverse outreach to underserved populations to achieve digital equity in our public engagement forums, promotions and tactics.

Key Responsibilities :

• Assist communications with clients, community leaders, the public and all stakeholders (internal and external) on public projects.
• Research broadband and digital equity best practices to design Communications Plans that engage and educate underserved populations.
• Work with more senior team members to utilize traditional and new media tactics (i.e., web, mobile, social media, print, digital, and video) to effectively communicate key messages to target audiences.
• Support the design of digital content through a wide variety of technologies including animation, text, multimedia, dynamic and/or interactive content.
• Utilize engaging facilitation techniques for virtual and in-person events that spark discussion and input.
• Provide creative direction and expertise to develop products while managing costs, methods and/or staffing.
• Represent Michael Baker International’s public engagement initiatives at professional conferences, including presenting papers and posters as a professional communicator.
• Work with Michael Baker’s technical staff to deliver written project reports.
• Work with Michael Baker’s marketing staff to produce client proposals and presentations.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, Marketing, or related field
• 3-5 years of related and relevant experience
• Knowledge of virtual engagement platforms and survey methods such as Teams, Zoom, MetroQuest
• Strong written and oral communication skills required
• Demonstrated experience leading the end-to-end creation and production of content for web, mobile, social media, print, digital, and video; and engagement tactics such as interactive surveys, interview discussion guides, workshops, and public meetings
• Background managing budgets and developing cost estimates
• Ability to build consensus and work collaboratively for impactful solutions with community, employee, and public interest groups
• Ability to work independently, productively, and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment with multiple deadlines and stakeholders
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office) and social media savvy. Additional graphic design, publishing, or web design software skills are preferred
• Provide quality assurance and quality control reviews and guidance
• Travel for public involvement events in the evening required
• Must have a valid motor vehicle driver’s license
• Master’s degree a plus

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.

Workplace Flexibility

This position is located in Moon Township, PA with potential for the candidate to work a flexible work-from-home schedule.
