ABOUT THE TESTING CENTER:

The GCC Testing Center supports student self efficacy, independence and self directed learning by providing a space and protocol for any student requiring access and accommodations in alignment with eligibility and needs. These services include placement testing, make-up/examinations for regular classes and special circumstance testing needs. GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The Testing Assistant is responsible for working with the Testing Coordinator to facilitate the testing experience of individual students. This person is responsible for test security and proper testing procedures.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages and administers tests for distance learning courses.
Manages and administers tests for students with testing accommodations, distance learners and make up exams for students in traditional courses. This responsibility includes scribing tests (type or by hand) or video proctoring for distance learning. This also includes video proctoring in the testing center overflow test space.
Maintains records of testing participants.
Assists in related duties and operational management of the Testing Center.
Other duties may be assigned.


Job Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience

Minimum one-year work experience in a customer facing role required. Preference will be given to applicants with student facing experience in higher education. Requires moderate knowledge of computer use i.e. ability to set up accessibility supports such as headphones, screen readers, etc. Knowledge of and/or experience with students with special needs, individual learning styles and appropriate instructional accommodations helpful.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to work effectively with diverse student population, and cooperatively with faculty and staff.

Ability to work well independently.

Excellent communication and organizational skills such as time management, ability to multitask and provide varied access and accommodation methods as needed.

Must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity. Is mindful of and develops accessibility solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically.


Additional Information:


This is a part time, 19.5 hour per week position and has an annual obligation, including summers.
