The BHMP will work among a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for providing bio-psycho-social psychiatric evaluation, treatment planning and medication management to a range of clients with mental illness, substance use disorders and intellectual and developmental disabilities. There is opportunity for support and consultation from board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct trauma informed bio-psycho-social evaluation and treatment planning for a broad range of psychiatric disorders
  • Provide diagnostic evaluation and clarification for complex presentations
  • Lead treatment team in overall treatment planning from a bio-psycho-social perspective
  • Provide medical decision making including psychosocial and medical/medication treatment recommendations and crisis response to new and existing clients.
  • Provide consultation and health education to agency staff, caregivers and clients as it is relative to the treatment and medication needs of agency consumers.
  • Participate in facility discharge planning with intra and inter-agency staff
  • Maintain documentation of services including progress notes, medication informed consent and other required information in compliance with agency and third-party compliance standards.
  • Document concurrently while conducting interviews in the electronic medical record and complete all notes the same day as the service was provided
  • Practice within the standard of care guided by practice parameters and best practices from regional and national stake-holding organizations
  • Receive practice support, supervision and consultation from the Chief Medical Officer/Medical Director
  • Receive administrative support from the Practice Manager
  • Complete other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor that are consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, patient responsiveness and appropriately notify team members for absences.
  • Child evaluations are allowed 90 minutes, adult evaluations and patient transfers are 60 minutes and follow-up appointments are 30 minutes and are subject to fluctuation based on clinic needs.
  • Availability to support in person and telehealth appointments (partial work from home acceptable)
  • Comfort using telehealth technology to support remote work to rural sites
Requirements:

Education –

  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with Psychiatric Specialty or Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Experience –

  • 2 years of experience in behavioral health either pre or post-degree preferred
  • Must be able to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment and be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
  • The ability to interact effectively with other team members in a team-based approach
  • Must be able to work in a stressful and often high intensity environment
  • Familiarity with practice related state and clinic policies and procedures

License –

  • Current active unrestricted licensed in the State of Arizona.

Regulatory –

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Arizona Driver’s License, 39-month Motor Vehicle Report and proof of vehicle registration and liability insurance that meets insurance requirements
  • Must possess a valid AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card (Employer reimbursement available upon hire)
  • CPR and First Aid certification (Employer provides)
  • Initial current negative TB test result (Employer provides)
