Position Mission

The Prospect Development Manager will have a crucial role in the success of FOCUS’ Mission Development efforts. Their leadership will help to build strong prospect portfolios for our frontline fundraisers in order that FOCUS may raise the needed revenue to advance its mission of launching college students into lifelong Catholic mission. The Prospect Development Manager will be tasked with running and improving a sustainable analytics and prospect management system, while overseeing a team of 3 Portfolio Managers for the philanthropy team in each geographic region, as well as our Research Specialist. If our frontline fundraisers do not have the needed prospects, our chances of success are greatly hindered. Thus, the role of the Prospect Development Manager will be crucial to FOCUS’ efforts to raise the necessary funds to fulfill the Great Commission and change the world for Jesus Christ.

Position Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Reviews: Run/oversee portfolio reviews for each philanthropy officer twice a year. Recalibrate prospect pools in order to ensure we are working with prospects of the highest affinity and capacity.
  • Prospect Mining: Coordinate projects to uncover new prospects for development officers.
  • Portfolio Metrics: Measure and analyze movement of prospects towards solicitation, and train/invest in portfolio managers’ ability to provide similar insight for their areas on an ongoing basis.
  • Report Generation: Using CRM and other tools (e.g. Excel or Access), develop regular ad hoc prospect lists, reports, and metrics dashboards. Works closely with the Prospect Development Team, Director of Operations, and IT departments to accomplish this. Respond to senior leadership for reactive report requests.
  • Prospect Research: Coordinate requests from senior leadership as needed; set research strategy/deliverables and subsequent action items for both internal and external special events.
  • Policy Creation and Implementation: Lead the overall effort to create a Prospect Management policy handbook. Train new and existing development officers according to those policies.
  • Management: Coach a team of Portfolio Managers in achieving top performance in their roles so as to best serve the mission. Create a plan for each direct reports’ professional growth while also encouraging their personal and spiritual growth.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working in fundraising/philanthropy or data research/analysis
  • Strong computer skills; proficient knowledge of at least one CRM tool; advanced knowledge of Excel highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Management experience preferred
