Mueller Reports is looking for a self-motivated Property Inspector to join our growing team. This is a remote field position where the successful candidate will complete home inspection services and data collection for our insurance and valuations clients in their surrounding counties. The successful candidate will thrive in an autonomous, metric driven, fast-paced role.

Property Inspector Job Specifications:

  • Part Time (20-30 hours weekly).
  • A minimum of 3 weekdays is required for Part Time (6-8 hours each day).
  • Shifts during daylight or daytime hours only.
  • Some Saturday availability is required.
  • Must live in the County we are advertising for, to be considered (see coverage area).
  • Coverage areas for this job: Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson and Winnebago counties

Property Inspector Requirements:

(You must have all items listed below to qualify for this position.)

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Smart Phone: Apple, or Android (phone must be no older than 4 years to support our mobile app).
  • You must own a laptop or computer with a camera and sound (The camera and sound are required for the interview, for training and for the job itself).
  • Home internet.
  • Valid Driver’s license (up to date and current).
  • Fuel-efficient vehicle (required to use own vehicle – we do not supply a vehicle for this position).
  • Appropriate attire, business casual.
  • Must be willing to work in all weather conditions (Heat, Cold, Snow, Rain, Wind, etc.).

Property Inspector Core Responsibilities:

  • Calling borrowers and homeowners to schedule data collection and inspection dates and times.
  • Arriving to properties unannounced to conduct exterior home inspections.
  • Following up with borrowers and homeowners through phone call or text if necessary.
  • Conducting phone and onsite interviews regarding property specifics including but not limited to building materials, year built, private property protection, additions, renovations, or construction, etc.
  • Collecting photographs of the interior and exterior of the property including but not limited to photos of the roof, all sides of the home, exterior amenities and hazards, external obsolescence, heating, plumbing, electrical systems, interior furnishings and building materials.
  • Identifying and reporting on hazards, quality or condition of the property, outbuildings, and the surrounding neighborhood if applicable.
  • Measuring the perimeter of the property using a wheel and inputting accurate diagram of the home including square footage and different components into mobile application.
  • Measuring portions of the interior and diagramming rooms, amenities, and walls.

Property Inspector Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in home inspection services is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge or experience in the following is helpful but not required: delivery services, installation maintenance or repair (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), door to door sales, landscaping or groundskeeping, grounds cleaning and maintenance, insurance, data collection, working outdoors, construction, customer service, valuation condition reports or real estate appraisals.

Property Inspector Compensation:

  • Hourly (paid training and you would be paid for all time spent completing and driving to/from inspections, admin work, and calls to/from homeowners).
  • Mileage Reimbursement (40c/mi).
