We are seeking a Property Accountant that will provide excellent service and support to our hotel properties and the corporate accounting team. This position may be a hybrid role with both remote and onsite work at the OCI Hospitality corporate office in Duluth, MN.


Job Summary

The Property Accountant is responsible for providing high level accounting support and analysis activities for a multi-property portfolio of hotels. The Property Accountant possesses a thorough knowledge of general accounting tasks, including GL account reconciliation and oversight of month and year-end processes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly financial statements including statement of cash flows and balances sheet.
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepares and files sales tax.
  • Ensures the proper classification of assets, liabilities, incomes, and expenses including capital expenses.
  • Reviews and ensures accuracy of daily reporting from hotels in the accounting system.
  • Prepares reserve requests for submission to lenders.
  • Ensures licenses are renewed in a timely manner.
  • Assists with gathering information for any required compliance and tax reporting.
  • Coaches and trains property teams on accounting systems and financial literacy.
  • Analyzes data in preparation for financial statement variance calls with property teams and provides guidance on action steps to correct identified issues.
  • Assists with budgeting process by analyzing and inputting income and expenses as directed.
  • Collaborates with the payroll department to review and correct coding errors as needed.
  • Assists with hotel performance-based bonus calculations.
  • Coordinates the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual information presented to investors and banks.
  • Prepares year-end information for external accounting functions as needed.
  • Collaborates with hotels to ensure understanding and implementation of OCI accounting standards.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
