In addition, VEI staffs a full product development lab that excels in flavor profiles and custom formulation, making each product precise and unique.

Job Description


Summary/Objective:
Manage tasks and timelines for multiple research and development projects with moderate complexity from initiation through to commercialization. Consistently demonstrate a high understanding of project tasks and critical milestones and how they relate to other steps in the product development & business development lifecycle. Effectively communicate across multiple functional departments to mitigate and resolve obstacles and achieve timely project milestones. Promptly complete project tasks and workflows.

  • Manage all aspects of R&D Projects from ideation to commercialization, providing technical and communication support to ensure team members remain on track and delays are promptly and effectively addressed.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the product development lifecycle, including timing, tasks, roles/responsibilities of cross functional departments, and critical milestones.
  • Effectively manage multiple project paths and provide project updates to key stakeholders.
  • Skillfully navigate stressful, undefined and/or ambiguous environments while maintaining accuracy of work.
  • Effective utilization of ERP System.
  • Collaborates well within a diverse environment in order to accomplish the responsibilities required to satisfy the needs of the customer and the business.
  • Technical understanding of product development and contract manufacturing to facilitate communication of innovative new products and platforms that are aligned to the overall VEI strategy through developing and fostering internal and external partnerships.
  • Manages projects with moderate to high complexity while working closely with key business partners to define product requirements and develop project timelines.
  • Works with urgency.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Cross trains with other members of the department and organization.
  • Available to work overtime including weekends.
  • Comply with all safety and SOP procedures.

Non-essential functions

  • Able to assist and fill in for other department members as needed. (Examples: Benchtop Samples, Formulation, Document Control, Material Qualification, etc.)

Work Environment This job operates in an office and lab environment. This role routinely uses lab equipment and standard office equipment such as computers, calculators, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other office electronics.

Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Comprehend complex, hard-to-understand concepts.

Essential Functions Mathematics Perform ordinary arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric procedures in standard, practical applications.

Essential Functions Communication (Speech & Composition)

Expression of a level to communicate fluently with employees, customers and others in English to obtain and provide complex information. Vocalize and explain detailed data and problem-solve in-person, by telephone and via video conferences. Capable of interpretation of technical materials, oral presentation of reports and able to adapt vocabulary, tone and content for listener.

Comprehension and expression of a level to routinely draft narrative information, compose routine correspondence on own initiative, make comprehensive notes. May involve a large volume of such composition.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee will occasionally lift and carry up to 15 lbs., reach over shoulder, use fingers for grasping, repeatedly bend, climb, use peripheral and depth perception vision. Employee will frequently use both hands, sit for extended periods of time, walk, stand, and use well developed coordination simultaneously. Employee must be able to distinguish basic colors and shades of color, able to smell, and have routine hearing ability.

Environmental Factors: The environmental factors described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee will occasionally work irregular hour, work with sharp objects, work around machinery and moving parts, work on ladders and work closely with others. Employee will frequently be exposed to dust, silica, powders, etc. Employee will continuously work inside, and work alone.

Travel Minimal travel required - ability to travel infrequently (i.e., annually) for activities
