Construction Project Manager


Individual will work out of their home office with some travel required.

Salaried position. Salary commensurate with experience.


Responsibilities for Construction Project Manager for Transmission High Voltage Power Substations and/or Renewable Energy Generation construction group are as follows:


  • Effectively plan, schedule, and manage large scale electrical projects to meet customer's needs and expectations, and ensure the target profit levels are met for the project.
  • Work directly with Division Manager to help track and implement project budgets and production goals.
  • Define and communicate roles, responsibilities and authorities to project team members/partners and the customer
  • Ensure project completion in a safe manner, within budget, on schedule, and in conformance with the appropriate standards, specifications and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and understand all contract requirements.
  • Working knowledge of materials, construction methods and procedures, safety and testing, relating to industrial electrical applications.
  • Lead or participate in project meetings and conference calls for multiple projects.
  • Review invoices and applications for payment to assure accuracy of tabulations, accuracy of completion percentage, and recommend approval or disapproval.
  • Coordinates project construction with Construction Managers, General Contractors or Owners, to resolve critical time-sensitive construction related electrical issues.
  • Ensure project control documents are completed timely, to include RFI’S, submittals, schedules, change orders, daily plans, weekly and monthly reports, project status reports and any other applicable documentation.
  • Ability to develop and maintain project schedules in accordance with project specific contract requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with estimators on all project hand offs
  • Identify areas of concern and assist the team with solutions.
  • Coordinate with material procurement team and others to ensure material and equipment needs are met

Minimum Qualifications

  • An Associate’s Degree in a Construction Management or related field or a 3-4 years’ experience in a project management role working with financial reports pertaining to budget, variance, and cost tracking.
  • General knowledge and experience in scheduling, estimating, accounting and finance principles.
  • Knowledge in project management discipline to effectively arrange resources and manage multiple simple to medium complexity projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills for single or multiple technical areas.
  • Strong negotiating and critical thinking skills.
  • Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented attitude, flexibility, an understanding of the business issues driving the need for the project, and solid work ethic are expected.
  • Leadership skills that can energize a multidisciplinary work team to respond to business needs.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Project Management or related field.
  • General knowledge of project management principles, processes and techniques, applied in a utility setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
  • Proficient in use of project scheduling software.
  • Experience in the construction of Energy Collections systems, Solar Farms and/or Substations.

Compensation:

Depends on Experience

Per Diem offered for those that qualify

Schedule:

Length of day may be unpredictable, long hours may be required to accommodate construction schedules. Position requires long-term assignment and travel.
