General Description

The CUNY Institute for Implementation Science in Population Health (ISPH) is recruiting for a Project Manager for a 5-year NIH-funded randomized controlled trial (RCT) of a socialization and sex education program among individuals with mild to moderate developmental disabilities, under the direction of co-Principal Investigators Suzanne McDermott and Heidi Jones, faculty at the CUNY School of Public Health.

The randomized controlled trial (RCT) will test a socialization and sex education curriculum among 856 adolescents and young adults (ages 16-27) with Down syndrome and other types of mild/moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who receive services in four of the five Developmental Disabilities Regional districts of the New York State Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). Half of the participants will be randomized to receive a socialization and sex education curriculum, and the other half a physical exercise and nutrition intervention. The interventions will be 6-weeks and there will be questionnaires administered at numerous points before and after the interventions.

This position requires project management skills, including managing the project approvals, use of software for data entry and management, ability to communicate with Advisory Board and Regional staff, and organize meetings. The Project Manager will work closely with the Co-PIs to manage each aspect of the Grant. The start date is March 1, 2023 (or mutually agreed upon alternative).

Other Duties

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the trial. The Project Manager will be supervised by the Co-Principal Investigators, through weekly in person and remote meetings.


Project management job duties include:

  • Complete and maintain Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions and process reports, and communication with the CUNY SPH Human Subject Office officials
  • Work closely with the Co-PIs to track study activities, report progress, organize meetings and trainings sessions
  • Communicate with community partners and Regional Coordinators
  • Coordinate intervention data collection by establishing systems for scheduling appointments, maintaining accurate visit completion records, and data entry systems
  • Communicate with the Advisory Committee, Data Safety and Monitoring Board and Lived Experience Consultants, including scheduling individual meetings and group in person and remote meetings
  • Complete progress reports
  • Prepare grant materials including purchase of supplies, printing and distribution of Coordinator and participant manuals, and maintenance of supplies
  • Monitor and track budget
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience with grants management or other evidence of management skills
  • At least a bachelor’s degree (BA or BS)
  • Experience with data management and research preferred.
  • Experience with grants administration preferred.
