Job Description


Plan, monitor, control, and be held accountable through subordinates, all aspects of factory automation projects. Assist with the initial project proposals, administration of all technical engineering information, coordinate all in-house staff, performance to schedule, performance to budget, delivery, installation, cash flow and customer satisfaction through the warranty period. Will assume the role of a key member of management to ensure that the customer’s needs are met and project quality is maintained. Set an example of company culture with integrity and professional competence. Adhere to all established procedures as defined by ATS Quality Procedures, Process Flows, Work Instructions, Safety Procedures, and the Employee Handbook.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Personnel Management

  • Determine manpower requirements
  • Be accessible and open to employee concerns and needs
  • Follow in-house guidelines and standards to direct the daily project activities
  • Prepare the project team to see that objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities


Project Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the purchase order received is compatible with the terms of the project proposal
  • Conduct regular project meetings with the project team throughout the project
  • Conduct regular project meetings with the customer, record and distribute the information to the team
  • Track all contract changes with a written Change Order Request and maintain a revision summary
  • Coordinate and track the development of design and build through manpower schedules and spreadsheets
  • Oversee the requisition of materials as required per project
  • Responsible for machine acceptance and sign-off; along with customer milestone invoice sign-off
  • Conduct Project Closeout meetings designed to capture the highlights and lowlights of the project
  • Generate historical data as required by other departments
  • Create project forecasts for finance and to track status and performance to project objectives


Communications

  • Customer - Support customer needs and maintain contact with customer throughout the project, including the submittal of Project Reviews on a regular basis
  • General Manager/Operations Manager - Provide progress updates; alert to problems and manpower issues; relate suggestions on improved methods, tools, and status of material
  • Automation Technicians - Discuss weekly progress updates; resolve problems in technical design, schedule, cost issues, or shortages; encourage suggestions on improved methods and tools
  • Purchasing Dept - Review long lead items; assist with standardization of components/mechanisms
  • Manufacturing Dept - Negotiate lead times on manufactured material; help to interpret design and detail drawing changes to maintain a low level of revisions
  • Engineering Dept(s) - Discuss and help to interpret specifications and customer needs and requirements


EDUCATION
: BS degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering or equivalent


EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two years project development experience in a similar manufacturing environment. Must have a working knowledge of mechanical and controls aspects of factory automation systems. A working knowledge of PC based Microsoft applications for business is required. Must have ability to work with and communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
