We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Procurement Technician to join our company at our Freeport, TX facility.

The project and procurement technician will have full accountability to deliver business objectives for capital projects from front-end loading through detailed design and construction, commissioning, return to operations, startup and project closeout. The technician will also have full accountability to facilitate the project team in the use of the appropriate Core Project Delivery Process (Core PD) to implement the project and will also have delegation of authority to approve purchase requisitions and invoices while managing basic block procurement needs.

Responsibilities – What You Will Do:

How will you help us grow? It matters to us, and it matters to you!

  • Facilitate effective communication across a variety of personnel (both internal and external), outline clear roles and responsibilities, ensure workloads are reasonable, project is in alignment with the business case/charter, and develop project execution strategy.
  • Lead the team to meet the required objectives/deliverables and develop an appropriate Project Execution Plan.
  • Responsible for confirming that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met including milestones, project costs, scheduling, commissioning, start-up, etc.
  • Review engineering and construction to confirm that all EHS and other organizational requirements have been met for the project including proper application of the Change Management process as needed.
  • Manage resources to ensure that safety is the top priority throughout the entire project.
  • Resolve any issues around resources, functional capability and identify/resolve project gaps.
  • Monitor maintenance budget and work with Accounts Payable (AP) on invoice processing.
  • Collaborate with affected departments to establish plans for a smooth interface between operational needs and project turnover responsibilities.
  • Responsible for ensuring necessary block operational and maintenance activities are aligned to the maintenance strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements – Who You Are:

  • You have an associates degree.
  • You have 5 years of experience working in manufacturing, maintenance or in the construction trades.
  • You have a valid US drivers license.
  • You have strong working knowledge of the Project Management work process.
  • You have a strong track record of achieving results and positively influencing others to strive to meet goals and deliver results on time.
  • You are comfortable and experienced with leading and organizing projects as well as people, this includes monitoring progress, organizing, communicating, resolving conflict and providing feedback on an ongoing basis.
  • You have strong leadership skills and experience working with diverse situations across various people/departments.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills, including good written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have good organization, prioritization and time-management skills in order to multi-task.
  • You have experience and proven proficiency in computer systems and programs including (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and tend to pick up quickly on new software.
  • You value working in a diverse and inclusive team environment and always conduct yourself in a respectful and professional manner.
  • You are willing and able to work a primarily daytime schedule (Monday through Friday) and work overtime as needed.

Preferences – It Would Be Great If You Have:

  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Experience in Small Project Execution (Typically under $1,000,000), in chemical manufacturing or equivalent experience in manufacturing, maintenance, operations, or skilled trades.
