Project Aide

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Undergraduate course work in engineering chemistry. Knowledge of materials science fundamentals, materials characterization and x-ray diffraction.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with materials science courses, electrochemistry, knowledge of mechanical properties such as fatigue and hardness.

Brief Description of Duties:
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the lead investigator and collaborators and assist other team members in gathering data from ongoing materials characterization projects. Successful incumbent must be responsible, detail-oriented and be able to work independently and in a team setting as well as demonstrate coursework in engineering chemistry including materials science and engineering courses.

Duties:

  • Assist in materials characterization.
  • Set up samples and gather data from electrochemistry experiments.
  • Conduct literature studies of fatigue, hardness and wear behavior of materials.
  • Maintain results to be reviewed by PI; attend regular lab meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
