SUMMARY

Family Service League is seeking a Full -Time, Program Supervisor for our Healthy Families Suffolk Program. Healthy Families is a home visiting program, matching parents with knowledgeable and caring workers who provide information and support during pregnancy and early childhood. Services include helping families access community resources and services, educating families on parenting and child development, connecting families with medical providers, and assessing children for developmental delays.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct supervision to Family Support Specialists, with a focus on parent child interaction and the promotion of child development and family functioning.
  • Establish a trusting relationship with staff that provides opportunity for respite and scheduling flexibility.
  • Conduct staff observations and provides staff with written and verbal feedback for professional development.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance calls.
  • Review referrals of prospective participants to determine eligibility for program.
  • Serve as an advocate for participants and potential participants by linking and/or referring families to appropriate community resources.
  • Conduct ongoing community outreach in the target areas of Hempstead, Roosevelt and Uniondale.
  • Organize events and activities to engage program participants as well as community members.
  • Collaborate with community partners to maintain an effective referral base.
  • Establish a trusting relationship with families, including mothers, fathers, extended family, and other caregivers.
  • Conduct assessments and provide home visits to families to strengthen parent-child relationships and promote child health and development as needed.
  • Maintain tracking forms, required statistical information, data forms, and other paperwork as required in a detailed and timely manner.
Q UALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in human services or related, OR bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience, OR less than a bachelor’s degree with commensurate HFA experience
  • Knowledge of or experience in supervising diverse staff with humility, as well as providing support to staff in stressful work environments
  • Knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment
  • Experience with family services that embraces the concepts of family-centered and strength-based service provision
  • Knowledge of parent-infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect
  • Experience in home visiting with a strong background in early childhood prevention services willingness to engage in building reflective practice (e.g., capacity for introspection, communicating awareness of self in relation to others, recognizing value of supervision, etc.)
  • Infant mental health endorsement a plus
  • Knowledge of community resources and the program's target area: Amityville, Bay Shore, Brentwood Central Islip, Copiague, Huntington, Huntington Station, Wyandanch
  • Bilingual in Spanish required.
