Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Manager for the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Manages the Pre – Post Award process for multiple active research projects and individual principal investigators in the Institute.
  • Takes a leadership role in coordinating, managing, and implementing the administrative and research activities of associated the Business Department, responsibilities including strategic and operational administration of the Alzheimer’s Center.
  • As the effective coordinator of (department) faculty and staff, advisory bodies, working groups, and other affiliates, the Program Manager plays a vital role in the Alzheimer’s operations from inception.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience or a MA plus 3 years of related experience.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of office management systems and procedures.
  • Experience with grant proposal development and submissions applications, such as Grants.gov.
  • Research experience in higher education, public health, and/or psychology.
  • Experience with Human Research Protections processes and systems.
  • Experience in grants budgeting and compliance processes.
  • Strong familiarity with grant preparation and management.
  • Ability to organize, manage time effectively, multitask and prioritize daily work.
  • Exceptional resourcefulness, a proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
  • Friendly, personable with professional presence and demeanor.
  • Excellent listening skills, combined with the ability to think critically.
  • Discretion and confidentiality.
  • Superb written & oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years’ experience in administrative positions.
  • Background and experience in higher education, public health, health sector administration, global health and development, medicine, ethics, philosophy, bio-law, and/or economics.

Equipment Utilized
  • Strong computer proficiency, including advanced knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other technologies.
  • Familiarity with video conferencing software and equipment (e.g. Skype, WebEx, Zoom, etc.)

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply. Prospective employees should speak with their hiring manager to determine which policies apply to the role or position for which they are applying. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain a medical or religious exemption from the University will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
