University of Nebraska-Lincoln Pine Ridge, SD

Program Facilitator – Multiple positions (full & part-time) Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Families and Schools University of Nebraska-Lincoln

UNL has provided substantial funding to support the establishment of a Sexual Violence Prevention Center (SVPC) on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Critical to the success of this work are program instructors/research assistants. The individuals in this position will teach culturally-grounded, empowerment-based gender transformative programming (IMpower) to boys, girls, and trans and gender diverse (TGD) youth including Two Spirit Youth. As such it is important that there be a good balance of cisgender men, cisgender women, and TGD/Two Spirit adults. These individuals will teach to thousands of youth on the Pine Ridge Reservation largely within schools but also in after-school settings as well, such as community centers. Following implementation on Pine Ridge, these individuals will go to other tribal communities who wish to adapt and implement IMpower.

In addition to discussion-based teaching, much of the classes include practicing of verbal and physical self-defense skills, which will require holding up mitts and shields to take strikes and kicks, doing full-force interactions.

Selected candidates will receive training to teach these skills; for more information on the programming, visit https://impowerunited.org/ AND https://www.nwmaf.org/empowerment-model

Individuals in this position will also provide support to the network referral system component of IMpower. When program instructors are not teaching in schools, they will assist with research tasks such as participant recruitment, enrollment, and retention; data entry; community engagement events; dissemination; grant writing; doing community trainings, liaising with implementation partners in other communities, and other research and programmatic tasks as needed.

Criminal history background check will be conducted. Candidates must also have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning January 9, 2023 and will continue until the positions are filled. View requisition S\_221440 at http://employment.unl.edu or use this quick link for details and to apply: https://employment.unl.edu/postings/83519.
