About Youth Center:
The Youth Center provides a space for youth to build connections, explore and understand their community, and to put leadership skills into action. Through year-round programming centered on leadership development, education, and workforce readiness in Boston and Quincy, BCNC supports youth to thrive in school and beyond.
About The Role:
The Program Assistant is a summer part-time position that works with the staff and program participants under supervision of the youth program staff. The age will be from 19-24. S/he/they assists Youth Center staff in a summer program/field trips and workshops. S/he/they also supervises youth participants in the youth center lounge by creating a safe environment where youth can develop healthy relationships, and engage in positive interactions. S/he/they is also responsible for helping to maintain the daily operations of the Youth Center. Program Assistants attends weekly supervisory meetings for regular check-ins and professional development with Youth Center Staff.
This position’s pay rate is $17.00 per hour with 25 hours per week, and no more than 175 hours in total. Program orientation starts on Wednesday, June 28 to Thursday, June 29. Program will run from Wednesday July 5th to Friday August 11th for 6 weeks of program.
What You Will Do:
80% Program Support
  • Ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for program participants.
  • Engage and facilitate in group projects with other youth.
  • Assist summer staff in Summer program and fieldtrips.
  • Organize daily events and other activities for youth.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

20% Operations Support
  • Ensure the youth center and other facilities used are neat and clean at all times; ensure that all equipment is distributed, collected, and accounted for; ensure that all equipment is kept in good condition
  • Help to maintain the database by keeping attendance in program activities; administer evaluations both formally and informally in program activities; update program staff, youth participants, and families concerning schedules, programs, and emergencies; maintain relevant statistical

Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily in a standard work environment, including the operation of computer equipment, and physical demands associated with a traditional work setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary.
