Job Title: Production Supervisor

Location: In-Person (Dakota City, NE)

JST Global, LLC, was formed in 2020 between Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc, and Jacob Stern & Sons. As the largest US distributor of tallow, the joint venture was formed to serve the worldwide fats and oils market providing key ingredients in thousands of products in such diverse industries as, personal care, animal nutrition, plus the rapidly developing field of renewable fuels. Offices and processing operations are in Houston, Texas and Omaha, Nebraska, with a new facility under construction in Dakota City, Nebraska. We have logistics expertise to export products virtually anywhere in the world to meet our customers’ manufacturing needs.

This position is located in Dakota City, Nebraska, where our new terminal will receive and store tallow and other fats and oils, further process to meet desired product specifications, and distribute to customers across North America via truck and rail. POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor will serve as a member of the Dakota City Leadership team. The Production Supervisor will assist in the final construction activites of the Dakota City facility and then lead production activites to ensure maximum uptime and productivity from the operations team. This is a hands-on position and direct reports will include 14 Production Operators. The Production Supervisor will also be supported by the production team in Houston, Texas.

RESPONSIBILITES AND ACCOUNTABILITES:

  • Perform all work activites safely to meet commitments related to terminal operations
  • Assure compliance with all operating procedures, operating requirements, and safe work practices by anyone who comes into the facility.
  • Recognize and promote ideas that provide safer, more efficient, and cost-effective operations
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns
  • Work closely with and take direction from the Production lead
  • Perform activites in the tank farm, truck loading/unloading rack and rail loading/unloading area relating to gauging tanks, lining-up tanks, and performing intra-terminal product movements
  • Perform inventory reconciliation
  • Direct and supervise the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) workforce.
  • Assign crew members to daily duties
  • Ensure that established policies, rules and regulations and procedures are followed.
  • Confer with management regarding operational and employee issues
  • Complete appropriate documentation, paperwork, and inputs into our ERP system
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS DESIRED:

  • High School or equivalent diploma
  • Satisfactorily obtain or already possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Basic knowledge in MS Office and an aptitude for earning new programs.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Good organizational skills
  • Basic mathematical skills (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekend, and holidays as needed and required
  • No travel requirements outside the City of Houston
