Who is Aztalan Bio?

Aztalan’s story is just beginning, and you can be part of it! ClonBio Group acquired Wisconsin’s largest ethanol plant in 2022 located in the village of Aztalan, just outside Jefferson, WI. The facility will process 40 million bushels of locally grown feed corn per year, turning that into food-grade corn oil, vegetable protein concentrates and isolates for food applications, aquaculture feeds, renewable natural gas, organic fertilizer, ethanol, and dietary fiber for foods, among other things. We are scheduled to start the facility in the fall of 2023 and are currently hiring!

Position Overview

The Production Manager will provide operational direction for all production activities and is responsible for safety, quality, and operational effectiveness standards and performance. Ensures that shifts follow standard operating procedures for plant operation, problem solving and administrative work. Represents shift-based operation in production management and with peer departments. Develops, follows up, and updates operating plan for the plant (load settings), communicates current issues. Develops and communicates shift work schedule, and resolves issues related to absenteeism.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all operations to ensure teams are following policies and procedures related to employee, food and feed safety and environmental compliance.
  • Assumes personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Develops and oversees operational plans and monitors routine operations for all production processes. Monitors activities and identifies differences from standard operating practice and between shifts; implement gap closure actions.
  • Oversee production outcomes, quantity and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are within specifications.
  • Ensures that daily production report is value adding; checks that all data is accurate in the reports; collects and communicates all notable issues happened during the previous days.
  • Ensure ongoing review of key performance indicators with focus on continuous improvements in site operational targets. Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance and product quality.
  • Represents production at various meetings and communicates necessary information to other departments. Partner collaboratively with all departments including logistics, maintenance, EH&S, engineering and commercial.
  • Prepares and updates production schedule and schedules workforce. Estimates detailed production quantities, by tanks, by silos, etc.; provides specific instructions to shifts on how to execute production schedule (tanks to fill, empty, product variants to produce); schedules workforce according to production schedule.
  • Hires, trains and manages production team including employee evaluations, development, resolving issues and taking disciplinary actions.
  • Accountable for the implementation of non-base capital investments.
  • Collect and analyze data to find areas of waste and overtime.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and a minimum of five years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in agricultural or engineering field preferred.
  • Two years supervisory experience
  • Working experience with industries using process equipment, process control and SCADA
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental regulations.
  • Working knowledge of computers including MS Office, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills will be required to communicate with employees and other departments.
  • Ability to prioritize, focus, and distinguish between urgent and important.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Ability to make decisions.
