Responsibilities:
Key Duties:
The Product Owner is responsible for defining and prioritizing a team's backlog while ensuring translation of the Product Manager's vision and outcomes into stories. The Product Owner has a significant role in quality and directs members of the team in completing the work defined in the sprint. The Product Owner closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and technical teams to understand, analyze, refine, prioritize, and communicate needs to ensure full understanding of product scope, objectives, and requirements. This role develops and adapts the product vision, writing new user stories, and is empowered to “accept” completed stories.
What You Will Do:
- Provides expert-level support of the formation of the vision to delivery team, outlining and prioritizing work based on business value
- Translates expert level requirements into stories and outcomes
- Leads implementation of highly complex products and service solutions
- Prioritizes product backlog based on overall strategy and business objectives and works with the Scrum Master to drive sprint and release plans
- Articulates what done means for stories and outcomes
- Fosters relationships with key stakeholders and anticipates stakeholder and team needs to manage development process. Maintains clear understanding of the customer, their needs and impact of the product to their business
- Leads collaboration efforts, facilitates sprint activities, and creates and communicates requirements between key stakeholders and product teams
- Leads oversight of all stages of development, including planning, refining, reviewing and sprint
- Key contributor and leads in retrospectives to continually improve team processes
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Knowledge: Expert knowledge pertaining to concepts and principles in functional area, including Agile methodologies and Product Management disciplines. Ability to translate high level requirements into stories and outcomes. General knowledge of department/ business lines, Client, and/or System operations, policies, procedures, and technologies.
- Communications: Excellent organizational and communication skills, creativity, attention to detail (compliance), and negotiation skills to interpret results, develop communications and recommend improvements. Able to present information within all settings in a credible, confident, and influential manner. Communicates in a concise, direct, and purposeful way. Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to interact with anticipated audiences in a courteous, service-oriented manner.
- Risk Management: Responsible for understanding and applying risk management discipline in decision making and contributing to his or her function's risk management.
- Decision Making: Works independently, under general direction, as to scope or objectives. Makes decisions within established or widely accepted standards. Achieves assigned/planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, training, business principles, and practical experience.
- Deep understanding of and experience with Agile methodologies required.
- Product Owner certification preferred.
- SAFe® 5 Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/Master's Degree preferred with 12+ years of relevant work experience in a technology delivery organization.
