Position Description:
Calico seeks Principal Investigators with innovative research programs studying the immune system and inflammation who are excited about applying this knowledge to the field of aging. Of particular interest is research focused on understanding mechanisms driving immune system dysregulation with age and the physiological impact of these changes. We are most interested in applicants with demonstrated experience in applying molecular and cell biological approaches to study immunity, with an ability to carry out longitudinal studies that can ascertain causal events in aging.
The ideal candidate should have a breadth of organismal knowledge to relate immune system aging to changes in tissue homeostasis, metabolism and/or response to infection and cancer. The candidate should also be interested in identifying ways to therapeutically intervene to promote resilience that are informed by a mechanistic understanding of aging pathobiology.
Principal Investigators at Calico are expected to lead independent, productive research groups in a fully funded, highly collaborative research environment with support from state-of-the art technology labs, including biochemistry, genomics, mass spectrometry, microscopy, preclinical imaging, mouse physiology, data science and machine learning. Principal Investigators are part of the larger scientific community and are encouraged to publish their work and give seminars.
Position Requirements:

• Ph. D. or M.D. in immunology, biology, physiology, systems biology, or related field
• Post-doctoral experience or have led an independent research program in either industry or academia
• Strong record of originality and productivity including impactful publications
• Must be willing to work onsite at least four (4) days per week

The estimated base salary range for this role is $182,000 - $265,000. Actual pay will be based on a number of factors including experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for two annual cash bonuses.
