GEICO Technology team is looking for a highly experienced and motivated Principal Engineer II to assist with building modern cutting-edge solutions and services to deliver insurance platform services across its Commercial line of business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Works with Principal I and Sr. Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve and enhance existing systems as well as identify new opportunities to apply their knowledge to solve critical problems.

  • Lead Strategy and Execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities.

  • Building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

  • Lead collaboration efforts with software vendors, Tech partners, and business stakeholders

  • Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams

  • Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization.

  • Define, create and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective.

  • Train and mentor junior and senior engineers to strengthen the technical expertise of the team • Influence and educate executives.

  • Analyze cost and forecast, incorporating them into business plans.

  • Determine and support resource requirements, evaluate operational processes, measure outcomes to ensure desired results, and demonstrate adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.

  • Create and publish technical / architecture / design guidance documentation for Engineers on the teams to follow as best practices when building systems and services.

  • Required Skills:

    • 8+ years of professional software development experience

    • 8+ years of experience with architecture and design

    • 6+ years of experience in open-source frameworks

    • 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

    • Expertise in Domain Driven Design, Microservices-oriented architecture, Design Patterns and extensible REST APIs

    • 8+ years of Experience in DuckCreek development including Policy, Billing, Author, UserAdmin, TransAct, Integrations, Express 3.0, Page Builder, Insights and Product Studio

    • Understanding of Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth.

    • Strong understanding of .Net Frameworks and associated runtime environments.

    • Experience using frameworks such as Angular, ASP.Net MVC, .Net Core.

    • Experience use of Visual Studio 2019, VS Code and VSTS GIT for source control and Azure DevOps CICD.

    • Proven technical experience in Technology / Architecture Leadership role.

    • Proven experience building influential and impactful relationships internally and externally to lead and drive change.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    • Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive, and ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment.

    • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced work environment

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
