Cathedral School of St. Jude Catholic School is seeking a school principal for the 2023-24 school year, with a start date of July 1, 2023. Cathedral School of St. Jude provides an education in the faith that nurtures and challenges individuals to realize their highest spiritual, academic, physical, and emotional potential.

Cathedral School of St. Jude currently enrolls 354 students in grades PK2 through 8th Grade. A diocesan school located in St. Petersburg, FL, Cathedral School of St. Jude serves a culturally and academically diverse population and has had a history of excellence since its establishment in 1954.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate an unwavering commitment to providing a Catholic education of the highest quality to as many children as possible, ensuring that Cathedral School of St. Jude students are on the path to college, career readiness, and faith-filled life. As a school of excellence, the new principal at Cathedral School of St. Jude will focus on achieving comprehensive distinction in the following key areas of schooling: Mission & Catholic Identity, Academic Excellence, Governance & Leadership, and Operational Vitality.

The successful candidate must have a clear vision of and dedication to the values and philosophy of Catholic education. Candidates must understand the stewardship challenges facing Catholic schools and possess strong business/financial management skills, curricular insights, maintain a working relationship with the parish leadership and the Office of Catholic Schools and Centers, and communication skills to ensure the long-term sustainability of the school. Bilingual language English/Spanish is not required but preferred.

The candidate must also be willing and able to make instructional leadership a top priority, with an emphasis on mission-driven, data-informed decision-making, and teacher supervision.

Candidate must:

  • Be a practicing Catholic;
  • Possess (or be eligible to receive) a State of Florida principal certificate, including required graduate coursework in educational leadership;
  • Have a minimum of seven years of experience teaching or five years of experience leading in a school setting;
  • Be able to meet the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida Department of Education, and Florida Catholic Conference requirements for principals;
  • Candidates with a Master’s degree in Educational Administration are preferred.
  • Must pass Level II Fingerprinting and complete Safe Environment
