Morrison & Foerster LLP, an Am Law 50 law firm with 18 offices worldwide, has an opening for a Pricing Manager within our Financial Operations Department. This role can be based in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, Denver, Boston, New York or Washington, D.C.

The Opportunity

The Pricing Manger is responsible for managing MoFo's growing Pricing team including coaching, development and oversight of the team’s overall performance. The Manager supports partners and business professionals across the firm in developing profitable, sustainable and relevant pricing solutions that meet firm standards. This individual provides guidance and coaching to partners and business professionals on pricing best practices. They provide process improvements and tools that support more effective and efficient use of the Pricing team in building, communicating and maintaining proposals and budgets. The Pricing Manager provides consistent and proactive analysis on client financials to optimize performance and predictability on matter results. They support Partners through the annual deals process and work with CAM’s on review and approvals of high value write downs/offs. The Manager sets policy and ensures compliance of Pricing and Write down/Write off governance. This individual develops and maintains data for profiling, analyzing and tracking AFA’s for the various practice groups and types of work.

  • Effectively lead the pricing team, balancing pricing analyst workloads, client deliverables and team development.
  • Support Partners with pricing proposals, reporting and analysis and understanding of profitability measures.
  • Effectively communicate with partners, billing and collections, marketing and practice administration in regard to topics impacted by pricing decisions.
  • Complete annual deals process for all clients efficiently, limiting billing disruptions to a minimum and meeting the firm’s financial objectives for revenue growth.
  • Ensure timely response to requests for “new deals”, RFP’s, write downs or write offs and budget reporting.
  • Maintain alternative fee arrangement documentation; proactively monitor large AFA performance and respond to senior management requests for information on results of AFAs.
  • Implement process improvements, better pricing tools and reporting to support partners and increase profitability.
  • Support cross functional teams on projects that impact finance or pricing such as IT implementations, process changes or organization changes.

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; MBA preferred.
  • At least 5 years' experience in positions requiring strong financial analysis, pricing, budgeting or legal billing/ebilling management.
  • Law firm or professional services background with international exposure preferred.
  • Experience with Litigation pricing preferred.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and data visualization tools such as SAP BI and Tableau.
  • Strong working knowledge of Elite/3E or other law firm accounting software preferred.
  • Experience with matter management/profitability tools such as Iridium a plus.

Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.

New York, San Francisco salary range: $120k to $180k

Los Angeles salary range: $112k to $168k

Denver salary range: $105k to $157k
