JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Research office (ADGER), in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS), is seeking a Post Award Coordinator (Proposal and Award Generalist Level 2) .

Penn State researchers are solving problems and pioneering new knowledge to address the most significant challenges facing our world today. Research Administration professionals work with our distinguished researchers, performing a variety of business and financial duties that enable our researchers to obtain funding and manage the awards that support their vital work. We are looking for a candidate to join our highly respected team of Research Administration professionals in a fast-paced, innovative, and service-first environment.

This position has the potential to be performed fully remote or as a hybrid of remote and on-site working.

This position will focus on post-award responsibilities to include:

  • Initiate account setup in SIMBA

  • Identify and communicate unique award requirements

  • Complete budget uploads in SIMBA

  • Initiate sub-awards and associated tracking spreadsheets, and process sub-award invoice payments

  • Produce expenditure and cost share reports and sponsor-required financial reports

  • Process incoming award modifications

  • Submit no-cost extension requests and other sponsor-required notifications

  • Complete award closeout actions

  • Respond to college research faculty and administrative staff questions on award administration to include interpreting award requirements, communicating process steps, advising on university and sponsor policy, and obtaining required approvals

  • Develop an understanding of university policies associated with research administration and the federal Uniform Guidance

Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and think outside the box.

Education and Experience:

This position typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. We welcome first-time applicants and those seeking a career transition. Completion of the Penn State ACOR Certification and Education Series (ACES) and/or experience with the Penn State SIMBA financial system are preferred. T he most important qualities needed are curiosity, initiative, and the will to succeed.
