About the Opportunity

The Planning and Development Officer is responsible for the coordination of effective planning and development activity related to the implementation of Continuing Care programs and services provincially. This position plays a key role in identifying the issues important to the development and implementation of program policies and processes within the Continuing Care program and which are in keeping with the corporate goals and direction of Nova Scotia Health.


The successful candidate will:

  • Provide leadership in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of Continuing Care service delivery through the evaluation and development of Continuing Care policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Support the planning and delivery of safe service delivery practices and standards for Continuing Care staff
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives in support of meeting Accreditation Canada Case Management standards
  • Lead and support working groups and committees and produce deliverables that help to achieve Continuing Care program priorities.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelors Degree or Masters with major course work in economical, health, social sciences or health administration required. Masters level preferred
  • Six years related experience required
  • Experience working in Continuing Care preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with the complete cycle of project planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation required
  • Demonstrated experience in program planning and development required
  • Experience in healthcare an asset; comprehensive knowledge of Continuing Care preferred
  • Experience in project management is an asset
  • Demonstrates a high level of sound judgment, initiative, tact and flexibility
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and negotiating skills
  • Strong organizational, time management and leadership skills
  • Excellent facilitation, collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

  • Long Assignment Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives

$41.77 - $49.06 Hourly
