Turner Industries Group, LLC has an opening for a I&E Planner I to join our Project Controls team in Input Baton Rouge, LA and be placed at a jobsite in or around the Plaquemine, LA area. As a I&E Planner you will need relevant experience with electrical systems, electronics, pneumatics motor controls, DCS controls, power panels and will be responsible for walking down work orders, estimating labor hours, developing work plans, creating job plan packages, preparing, and completing estimates. The candidate may be asked to plan Maintenance, Turnarounds, Small Capital Projects, or a combination of the three.


Functional Requirements:

Review specifications, drawings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work, material, outside services and sub-contractors. Reviews and incorporates historical data into unit and man-hour estimates. Estimate and purchase materials required to complete the scope of work. Build field job plan packages. Estimate extras, change orders, and discovery work items. Maintain files of working documents and backup for estimate figures.


Primary responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Use client Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to identify upcoming installations, maintenance, and repairs
  • Develop job plans in a detailed and professional manner to safely conduct work
  • Develop job plans for all maintenance and turnaround E&I work, estimates time and resources, duration, and assist with scheduling E&I work
  • Troubleshooting and estimating the repairing, replacing, and installing DCS, PLC and HMI components, motors, A/C and D/C VFD's, electrical circuits and MCC starters
  • Troubleshooting and estimating the repairing, replacing, and installing conduit, wiring and electrical equipment
  • Troubleshooting and estimating the calibration, replacing and installation of instrumentation components
  • Troubleshooting and estimating the calibration, replacing, rebuilding, and installing of control valves
  • Estimating the replacement, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing electrical distribution center breakers
  • Knowledge of operating HV switches
  • Troubleshooting and estimating repairing and replacing controls communication networks
  • Troubleshooting process upsets
  • Prior maintenance planning experience, including process downtime and outages
  • Ensures parts, materials, and tools are appropriately requisitioned to complete planned jobs
  • Assists with planning/scheduling effort for major plant turn-around and equipment overhauls
  • Supporting maintenance with all E&I documentation

Required work experience:

  • Minimum four (4) years of field planning experience in any combination of industrial maintenance, capital projects, and/or outages and turnarounds
  • Minimum of four (4) Years of jobsite craft experience or BA/BS degree in Business, Engineering, or Management or related curriculum
    • NCCER certification, craft journeyman, or foreman in industrial construction, maintenance or turnarounds is an additional benefit
  • Must have a strong background in both electrical and instrumentation planning
  • Ability to estimate labor and material quantities from industrial construction drawings
  • Experience in engineering and/or construction work process and activity sequence required
  • Must be proficient in MS programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc..).
  • Preferred experience in planning software applications. (Turner Applications WinTake®, QuickPlan® and Win PCS® is an additional benefit)
