The Department of Correctionsis currently recruiting to fill two Physician Supervisor positions, which will serve as Associate Medical Directors. One position is based out of the Oshkosh Correctional Institution in Oshkosh, Winnebago County and the other is located at Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County.

The Physician Supervisor (Associate Medical Director) attends to the medical needs of patients, diagnosing and treating illness and injuries and arranging for professional consultation when warranted. This position supervises, in conjunction with the Health Service Manager, the development and implementation of treatment protocols and patient work flow.

This position supervises the physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners at designated regional institutions. The Physician Supervisor will meet as needed with a multidisciplinary team including health unit managers, nurse coordinators, Wardens, Psychological Services, Security, and Medical Director, and others, in order to formulate and implement medical policies, operational procedures and work flows at the unit level.

The Physician Supervisor participates in the BHS Quality Improvement Program, quarterly ACP conference, and Infection Control Program. This position provides direct care at other institutions, and on call duties, as directed by the Medical Director.

Applicant must have and maintain a current license to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin.

Applicant must have and maintain a current DEA number.

Applicant must have and maintain board certification in primary care field.

Applicant must meet continuing medical education requirements for each biennium as established by the Department of Safety and Professional Services, Medical Examining Board.

This position is in pay schedule and range 50-51 with a starting pay of $186,118 - $232,648 per year. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensations Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Candidates in possession of a Physician Board Certification may be eligible for add on pay of up to $21.00 per hour. Candidates may also be eligible for additional add on pay of up to $7.00 per hour for assuming supervisory duties.
