Overview:
Calling all photojournalists! CBS13/CW31, O & O duopoly in West Sacramento has an immediate opening for a full-time union photographer who is proficient in shooting and editing.
If you like the rush of being in the middle of it all, developing as a great storyteller, and covering sports, politics, features, and hard news…then this is your next stop. Join a staff of NPPA-driven shooters that look forward to working with each other and the public to present quality stories. This is a union shop.

Responsibilities:
Daily newsgathering, working with a reporter/or alone to shoot and edit daily stories
Edit material to match script prepared by reporter, producer, or associate producer using in-house or field locations as needed
Keep assigned equipment and/or vehicles in good working condition and file all required paperwork. Ability to set up live remotes with live trucks and use Live U’s if needed
Creative and strive for the business, willing to learn from others to grow in this profession

Basic Qualifications:
2 + plus years in television experience covering breaking news, features and sports preferred

Additional Qualifications:
MSJ’s and/or MMJ’s who are looking to be behind the camera are supported to apply
knowledgeable of the XDCAM EX camera and GRASS VALLEY (Edius) editing systems
Experience operating microwave, bonded-cellular packs and/or satellite trucks
MUST be willing to work mornings, days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Sound journalistic judgment
Passion for visual storytelling, excellent lighting skills and deadline oriented
Ability to get along with others!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $55,000.00 - 65,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
