PHLEBOTOMIST DAILY DUTIES:

  • Electronic lab orders; ensuring lab orders are in for all patients
  • Administering and charting injections
  • IV therapy - placing IV catheters, administering nutrient IVs, and charting
  • Checking and clearing/archiving faxes in Dr. Chrono
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain exam and treatment rooms- including setting up for procedures, cleaning up, and autoclaving instruments
  • Assist with all aspects of chart entry into the patient's Dr. Chrono account (as needed for lab)
  • Chart prepping of notes prior to lab visits
  • Confer with the provider prior to the patient visit about any incomplete orders or labs
  • Lab, PRP, and Therapeutic Phlebotomy draws
  • Provide appropriate education to patients (you must be well-educated on supplements)
  • Rooming patients
  • Taking history and review of systems
  • Perform callbacks as needed for all patients calling or emailing in a timely manner
  • Call and Email lab and procedure test results when a follow-up appointment is not required
  • Exercise problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when handling patient complaints; refer patient complaints to appropriate designated personnel as needed
  • Attend scheduled department staff and clinical meetings
  • Perform all duties and services in full compliance with OnePeak Medical's Employee Handbook
  • Perform all duties in support of successful EHR/EPM implementation
  • Flexibility to attend out of town training for the position
  • Perform other related work/duties as required
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA
  • Must have the ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be highly flexible and able to accommodate changing needs of the department
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Proven flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks
  • Knowledge of common hazards and standard precautions
  • Knowledge of medical equipment, procedures, examinations, treatments, and diagnostic tests
  • Ability to maintain records and record certain results

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent - Required
  • Current BLS and/or CPR/AED Certification - Required
  • Six (6) months of recent medical receptionist experience in a comparable healthcare setting - Preferred
  • Recent phlebotomy experience - Required
  • Certification in phlebotomy - Strongly preferred
  • CMA Certification - Strongly preferred
