Schedule: (Shifts and Full Time or Part Time Status Depend on Position)

Morning: 6:30:am – 2:30pm or 7:30am-3:30pm (Day Hab Programs)

Evening: 2:30pm – 10:30pm

Overnight: 10:30pm-6:30pm

How you’ll perform the role.

YAI has an openings for a Community Habilitation Specialists, Direct Support Professionals (DSP), Assistant Supervisors and Assistant Behavior Intervention Specialists. As a Direct Support Staff, you will provide support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You play an integral role in teaching various life skills while providing recreational opportunities to promote community integration. The goal of YAI is to empower the people we support to obtain greater independence.

· Establishing a secure, positive environment that nurtures residents' needs, self-expression, and housekeeping duties.

· Delivering individualized training and care for residents in compliance with healthcare professionals’ instructions and other specific guidelines.

· Advancing residents’ decision-making, productivity, and participation in a range of activities.

· Promoting independence in daily activities, such as work, learning, and leisure.

· Facilitate resident’s integration in the community's experiences and activities.

· Maintaining knowledge of residents’ requirements.

· Complying with the facility’s policies and procedures.

What we’d need from you.

· High School Diploma or equivalency required; Continued education in psychology, social work, art therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, or disability services strongly preferred.

· Valid Driver’s License

· Fluent English reading, writing, speaking, computer skills necessary to record observations and monitor development.

· Ability to participate in NYS Mandated OPWDD initial training during normal business hours upon hire.

· Tuberculosis test mandatory prior to the start date.

In 2018, YAI created a training program in conjunction with Rutgers University to provide advanced manager and leadership training.
