Job description

St. Denis-St. Columba School is seeking a committed educator to join our staff as a part time Teacher Assistant for the 2022-23 School Year. The Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting in the implementation of instructional methods, supporting students in classroom activities and providing critical support in maintaining a healthy environment in the school building at all times. Teaching Assistants may be assigned to provide support in any grade from Kindergarten to Grade 2.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Share your passion for learning with our students.

· Assist the lead teacher(s) with preparation, implementation, evaluation and recording of daily lesson plans as directed by the lead teacher(s).

· Assist individual students in the classroom and elevate every student’s learning by fostering their individual learning styles.

· Assist the lead teacher(s) with clerical tasks such as collecting and correcting homework, taking attendance, preparing daily lunch/milk counts, etc.

· Actively support the teacher in addressing student behavioral needs/discipline.

· Assist with classroom coverage when directed by the school administration.

· Assist with student arrival or dismissal depending on assigned work schedule.

· Assist with daily lunch, milk and water distribution.

· Assist student with bathroom breaks and oversee hand washing and hand sanitization.

· Assist with recess and teacher breaks.

· Develop a supporting, caring relationship with lead teacher(s), students, parents, faculty and administration.

· Complete all other job-related duties as assigned by the School Principal.

Qualifications and Skills

· Dedication and commitment to the Roman Catholic Church and mission of St. Denis-St. Columba School.

· Professional experience working with children or prior experience as a Teacher's Assistant preferred.

· Successful background check and completion of Safer Spaces Training upon hire.

· Flexibility with work assignments a must.

· Ability to stand for long periods of time.

· Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

· Must be self-motivated.

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team player

· Positive attitude, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of our students a must.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.50 - $14.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
