MercyOne Newton Medical Center is a fully owned hospital of MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center and a member of MercyOne Network.
It is located in the city of Newton, Iowa, county seat of Jasper County. Positioned on Interstate 80, the nation’s only east/west transcontinental interstate highway, Newton is about 30 miles east of the Des Moines metropolitan area, which has a population in excess of 400,000.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides direct patient care in the emergency room setting under the medical direction of the on-duty ED physician. He/She coordinates care with other disciplines, consults with the family or significant others and collaborates with the physician on the patient’s behalf. Able to triage safely, rapidly, and accurately, every patient that enters the emergency care setting. Able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Certification as a Paramedic in the State of Iowa. Critical Care Paramedic endorsement required within 6 months of hire. Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English. Maintains BCLS certification and attains ACLS, PHTLS or ATLS, and PALS within 1 year of hire. NRP strongly encouraged. Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.

EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of Emergency Medical Services.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Paramedic in Pre-hospital or hospital environment.
  • Basic computer knowledge and experience encouraged.

Pay Range
$15.56 - $21.40 /hour
