Full-Time Paralegal

A local oil, gas, environmental, and regulatory law firm that has been in Austin for over 30 years is seeking an experienced full-time paralegal / executive assistant to support the law office. The ideal candidate must be suited to work a full-time schedule. The candidate should have research experience, with a professional and mature attitude and demeanor, and must be able to work with limited supervision and be a team player. The candidate will work directly with the attorneys and office manager to provide high-quality paralegal and administrative assistance. To be successful in this role, you should be organized, detail oriented, proactive, able to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities, anticipate problem and develop effective solutions, meet deadlines in a pressured environment and communicate effectively. The candidate must have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Westlaw, e-filing procedures and be computer savvy.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepare legal correspondence, memos, letters, discovery, briefs, pleadings and contracts
  • Maintain paper and/or electronic files
  • Prepare document productions
  • Strong proof-reading skills are a must
  • Manage calendars and calculate calendar deadlines per state and federal procedural rules, administrative rules and scheduling orders
  • Make travel arrangements and prepare travel packets
  • Track client projects
  • Gate keeper for managing attorneys
  • Assist with event planning
  • Manage mail (incoming/outgoing)
  • Researching Administrative and Court records
  • Prepare and complete filings in administrative agencies, SOAH, and in state and federal district and appellate courts
  • Assist in trial preparation, deposition preparation and prepare trial, hearing and deposition notebooks in paper and electronic formats

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong research skills
  • Preferred Experience with Railroad Commission, TCEQ, Court filings, General Land Office, and similar agencies/courts.
  • Superior organizational skills, project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (via phone, email and in-person)
  • “Can do” attitude with the ability to adapt quickly

Compensation and Benefits:This is a full-time salaried position. The firm offers a highly competitive benefits package including paid vacation and holidays, major medical, vision, dental, life, short and long-term disability insurance, as well as a 401(k). Free Parking. The Firm has work from home Fridays.

PAY IS COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE AND CAN BE MUCH HIGHER THAN LISTED SALARY
