Summary:

Responsible for carrying out district policies and procedures in meeting the health needs of students. Assisting School Nurse Consultants to provide basic health care and first aid for students and maintain health records for students.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify funding, develop applications, recruit parent and staff leaders, and administer grant projects such as Safe Routes to School and Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality. Introduce and expand participation of elementary and middle schools in the BVSD Safe Routes to School Program. Apply for future SRTS and other funding sources.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of bicycle and pedestrian education programs, AKA BVSD BLAST and Bikeology, at the elementary and middle schools.
  • Coordinate encouragement events of International Walk to School Day, Winter Bike Week, and BVSD Bike to School Day.
  • Administer and promote the BVSD Staff Eco Pass Program Represent the BVSD in the development of a Community-Wide Eco Pass Program.
  • Develop the infrastructure of electric vehicles charging stations and manage an EV car sharing program for staff.

  • Create communications strategy and content including the maintenance of the BVSD TO School Program web pages and news releases.
  • Assess needs for facility improvements at schools, namely bicycle parking and access routes for pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • Observe and advise regarding automobile traffic patterns, circulation, and car parking at schools. Act as a resource for building principals to address these school site traffic issues. Observe and record traffic patterns.

  • Act as a liaison to jurisdictional entities, private and public organizations such as Boulder County, Community Cycles, Colorado Department of Transportation, City of Boulder, RTD, and municipalities within the BVSD boundary on the subject of pedestrian, cycling, and bus activities and infrastructure.
  • Conduct transportation surveys of students and staff and measurements to monitor the effectiveness of projects and programs.
  • Offer technical support, provide resources and lead training for parent volunteer crossing guard programs.

  • Provide personal route-planning and transportation guidance as a resource for students and staff.

  • Produce project reports, respond to requests for information, and fulfill the demands of students, staff, parents, administrators, the larger community, and the Board of Education as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

    Required:


    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Possess CPR, First Aid certifications and medical delegation certificate or willing to obtain within the first year of hire.
    • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting of up to 50 pounds.
    • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
    • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
    Preferred:
    • Experience in health field and/or school setting
    • Ability to multitasks with frequent interruptions
    • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
    • Strong organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, interpersonal relations skills, basic math and accounting skills


    Salary Information:

    Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

    • Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule). BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process.
