We are recruiting for a Maintenance Construction Technician I to function as a Painter in the Plant Operations Department at Central Regional Hospital in Butner, NC. This Department operates, maintains and modifies the facilities in such a manner that patient care is maximized. The Department also provides support for Central Regional Hospital, CRH Annex Campus locations, ADATC, and Camp Barham.

Employees in this class perform skilled work of the journeyman level. The painting position is responsible for painting buildings, (interior and exterior) fixtures and equipment with brushes, rollers or spray guns. Assignments are received oral or in the form of written work order and the work involves individual skilled performance in accordance with standard trade practices. Work is reviewed by supervisor through inspection of completed work for quality and compliance with work order. Position will prepare surfaces to be painted by scraping, patching, sanding and applying primer. Position will require applying several topcoats including latex, oil, epoxies and stains in order to achieve desired results. Position requires ability to use and stand on ladders and scaffolding for long periods of time. Performs related duties as required

This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. Flexibility in work schedule is required to meet hospital needs. The work hours are Mon-Fri 7am – 3:30pm with 30 lunch break five days a week. This is a mandatory 24 hours a day, 365 days per year operation. May be required to work on-call or in emergency situations or during adverse weather events

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess experience that demonstrates all of the following:

Working knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the painting trade.
Skill in the use of tools and equipment used in the painting trade.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Must be able to lift 50lbs. and be able to work at times in diverse weather conditions.
Must be able to reach, bend, squat and lift.
Must have a current NC driver’s license and be able to drive and operate a state vehicles and equipment.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including safety glasses & respirator as required.
ADA physical requirements will be discussed in detail during the interview process.

Management prefers experience in the preparation and painting of interior and exterior walls.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience associated with a variety of mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
