Job description

General Purpose:

This position is responsible for paint operations in support of fabricating wind turbine towers. Equipment and processes include wash equipment similar to hand car wash, blast hose disbursing metal grit, metalizing equipment similar to welding torch, and two-part paint systems

Responsibilities:

· Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment by following all safety protocols and performing routine housekeeping and workplace organization

· Perform activities of position as outlined in Production Work Instructions and Process Specifications

· Setup blasting, metalizing, and paint equipment by setting parameters and making adjustments

· Utilize wash, blast, metalize, and paint equipment and tooling to prep and paint the internal and external surface of a tower section

· Perform product quality inspections and make corrections as required

· Operate material handling equipment, overhead crane and rigging, fork trucks, and bogies to relocate tower section components

· Replenish Surface Treat equipment consumables

· Perform daily maintenance inspections on equipment and correct minor issues

· Coordinate with Team Leaders and other production employees to prioritize products to process

Essential Functions:

· Regular & reliable attendance

· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds from floor to shoulder height.

· Ability to use hand tools weighing up to 15 pounds

· Able to read and interpret production drawings and technical work instructions

· Ability to wear a respirator or fresh air supply hood

Education, Training, and Skills Required:

· High school diploma/GED

· 1 year work experience in a heavy fabrication industry, surface prep and/or paint industry, construction, welding, or other related field or course work in welding, machining, auto body paint and repair, construction, or other related field through an accredited technical school or apprentice program.

· Must be able to read and interpret production drawings and technical work instructions.

· Able to speak, read and understand English.

· Must pass pre-employment Reading, Math, and Locating Information Assessment.

· Standing and or walking for periods up to 3 hours.

· Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds from floor to shoulder height.

· Use of hand tools weighing up to 15 pounds.

· Movement of wheel barrels up to 200 feet.

· Wearing respirator or fresh air supply hoods
