We are currently seeking a talented full time Outpatient Coder to join our dynamic and growing team. The Outpatient Coder performs ICD10 CM, HCPCS, and CPT code audits of the patient medical charts and insurance bills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides daily assessment of codes used to identify diagnosis and treatment procedures.
  • Provides training in coding and compliance issues to physicians on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitors regulatory and insurance company changes of ICD10-CM, HCPCS and CPT codes with implementation of new guidelines for physicians and therapy services.
  • Performs periodic compliance audits as directed.
  • Provides written analysis of the charts audited, data collected, recommended action plan and assists with the implementation of a corrective action plan for those areas not meeting performance benchmarks.
  • Prepares and submits charges for services and procedures performed by the physicians.
  • Updates EMR with respect to diagnostic and procedural code changes.
  • This position also works collaboratively with the Medical Records, Physicians Clinic Management, Patient Access and Business Office to ensure that process and systems are updated to accurately code medical documentation and patient insurance claims.
  • Performs other duties assigned.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • CPC certification required
  • Outpatient CPT and ICD10-CM, HCPCS coding for CMS 1500 and medical terminology is required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience and/or training specifically related to diagnosis, procedural coding and charge entry.
  • Knowledge of provider insurance and billing requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an excellent attitude.
  • Must be organized, dependable and able to work independently.
  • Computer software skills including third party inquiry systems and in- house information systems.
  • Analytical skills needed.1-2 years in a rehabilitation setting is preferred.
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
