The Work You Will Do:

This OPS Staff Assistant position is in the Directors Office, under the Division of Administrative Services.


The Difference You Will Make:

The Division of Administrative services provides centralized administrative support to the department and its employees. Within this Division, the Director’s Office staff assist with various tasks.

Where You Will Work:

This position is located, and requires the ability to work, in Tallahassee (Leon County), Florida. The city hosts the Capital of Florida, and seat of state government. Florida State University, Florida A&M University, Tallahassee Community College and several smaller colleges are located in Leon County. The area is a hub for academic research, athletics, art, music and other student related activities. Numerous parks offer outdoor activities, league sports and natural trails for running, hiking and biking.


Pay:

This position is hiring at $15.00 hourly.


Your Specific Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include assisting Director’s Office staff with various clerical tasks. Coordinates all cell phone activities for departmental accounts, to include purchasing and updating databases. Responsible for back-up security desk coverage, which entails greeting and interacting with internal and external customers, monitoring surveillance cameras, and contacting the appropriate staff members to escort and greet guests. This position will report from 9:30am to 3:30pm with a 30-minute lunch break each day of the week (a total of 5.5 work hours each day, 27.5 hours each week).


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective Communication – Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Telephone Use – Ability to effectively receive, perform, and transfer calls on a multi-line telephone.
  • Computer Application Knowledge – Knowledge of basic computer functions and applicable computer applications.
  • Attention to Detail – Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Policy – Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Laws, Rules & Regulations – Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background screening.


Preferred Qualifications:

Customer services skills and clerical experience is preferred.
